Colin and Saskia, Oakham, Rutland 10th July 2023

Christine Graver will be very fondly remembered by us. She was very adventurous. Christine and Colin are the only ‘£10 poms’ we know! Her love of the countryside, which we shared through rambling. Colin and Christine came to see us both in Rutland and Somerset to share some very pleasant walks. In addition, Colin and Christine organised a rambling weekend for the Rutland Ramblers on the North Norfolk coast, which was enjoyed by all! Her enthusiasm for the Canaries reminded us of her father John, life in West Raynham and the great institution of the ‘Norwich football bus’, which the villagers along the route to Carrow Road took during a home game on a Saturday. As Christine would say: that is all ‘Normal for Norfolk!’ Christine worked hard and knew how to play hard. It was nice to see how successful Colin and Christine were through the hard work of building houses. Equally it was great to see how Colin and Christine first, and later, Christine and Jeanette knew how to enjoy themselves. Her warmth equalled the warm welcome there always was from her parents, Connie and John. Christine’s attentiveness (never forgetting a birthday), always sending lovely reminders of Norfolk through cards, calendars and tea towels (one of which we had framed!) will be remembered fondly. Rest in peace in woodland nature, country girl!
